Marina Marçal is a lawyer that truly believes a fair world demands more inclusive climate policies. She works as Brazil Advisor at Waverley Street Foundation, and previously worked for C40 Cities, Rio de Janeiro City Hall, and the Institute for Climate and Society. She holds an LL.M. in Sociology and Law and M.A. in Ethnic-Racial Relations. She was a visiting researcher at Columbia Law School (NY) and is an advisory board member of the Environmental Parliamentary Front and Brazil Human Rights Fund.

Marina has extensive experience working with governments, social movements, Afro-descendant communities in the Amazon, and Indigenous peoples to develop impactful climate policies and solutions that drive meaningful change. She is deeply committed to a real energy transition, empowering local communities to protect their lands and gain recognition as climate defenders. On the weekends, you can find Marina on the beach in Rio, dancing samba or watching afro-diasporic movies.
