Carmelita Mitchell

Carmelita is an accomplished philanthropic professional with over 20 years of experience in grants management, operations, and compliance. Before joining Waverley Street Foundation, Carmelita served as Director of Strategy & Impact at Tides where she led strategy and process development. Prior to Tides, Carmelita worked as the Sr. Director of Grants for Energy Foundation where she worked closely with strategic partnerships, program staff, consultants, and grantees to incorporate best practices, improve communication, and increase quality in the grantmaking process. She also served as Director of Grants Management at Humanity United where she managed due diligence, compliance, and reporting efforts – aligning those practices with mission and strategy. Carmelita is a 2021 Council on Foundations’ Career Pathways Fellow. She studied vocal performance at the Manhattan School of Music and the Accademia d’Arte Lirica in Osimo, Italy.
