Alexandria (Alex) McBride is a climate justice advocate and urban policy innovator committed to racial equity and social justice. Trained as an engineer, she brings over a decade of experience in climate and energy policy, community-led planning, and large-scale project management to her role as Senior Program Officer at Waverley Street Foundation.
Prior to joining Waverley Street Foundation, Alex was the Chief Resilience Officer for the City of Oakland, helping the community prepare for and bounce back from both rapid-onset catastrophic events (earthquakes, wildfires, and floods) and systemic challenges like racial oppression, climate change, and economic inequality.
Alex earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Howard University and a master of science in Environmental Policy and Sustainability Management at The New School. Outside of work, Alex can be found playing the saxophone, listening to 2000s R&B, and walking her dog Jack around Atlanta, her beloved hometown.
